Oh the dilemna.
I'm planning my next order, and among the imps I would like to order (mostly masculine scents) I want to try more of the Wanderlust oils. I have a thing for exotic/oriental scents, but I've had a pretty bad experience with Kathmandu and found Morocco nice though too light for my skin. Tried Machu Picchu as well but it was too candy-like for me. Now I'm thinking of ordering imps of Cairo, Athens, and maybe Silk Road, but even after reading the reviews on the forums I still have no real idea on what they're like gender-wise (I know, "most bpal oils are gender neutral!"), and regardless of gender I was interested in reading you guys about 'em. Anyone tried them out before? Any other suggestion from the Wanderlust oils, beside Whitechapel and Port-au-Prince?

I haven't had much luck with the Wanderlust series....

Bengal...spicy, cinnamon/clove, promising...after an hour or so the honey amps waaay up on me, and it becomes strong honey scent with spicy background.

Machu Picchu...almost no scent at all on me. It disappeared.

Manhattan...just a little more scent than Machu Picchu..but not much. Something like F5, refreshing...veeery light and 'barely there'. Not worth keeping for me.

Neo-Tokyo..interesting, bright and sweet, fresh..nice at first....after a while the sweetness of fruits or maybe cherry blossom amps up and stays around forever...becomes too much, almost headache inducing. I really wanted to like it too.

Port-Au-Prince....promising...warm clove, spicy and a little sweet...but for this kind of thing I like Baron Samedi much better...B.S. has more depth and is a litte darker and more substantial. Port-Au-Prince was closer to just clove gum.

Santa Eularia Des Riu...a nice fresh citrus with creamy floral backdrop..not exactly masculine, more gender neutral...it's good but citrus disappears on me too fast.

Silk Road...herbal and green, kind of nice...but after a while turns to very sweet, cloying powder on me. : (

Isles of Demons...something like a humid tropical dragon's blood scent..nice but no competition for other scents I love.

Jezirat Al Tennin...kind of a jumble of elements, didn't blend well on my skin...the initial wet stage reminded me of Demeter's Thunderstorm. Actually not bad, just kind of confusing.

Also tried Crossroads and Eden...can't even remember much about them. I still want to try a few including Uruk, Cockaigne, Whitechapel, maybe Baghdad and Cairo. Don't mean to discourage you on the above scents, maybe some would work better for you! : )

Most definitely. Chemistry is SUCH a HUGE part of BPAL. My BF wears Antique Lace (as does' Ted) and it's considered to be such a "girl" perfume, but on him is like a mineralistic Dorian. On me it's GROSS! Baby powder. Blech!

So, it really depends.

I think Manhattan would be Fab on a guy. Very much like "Happy for Men".

I'm ordering Whitechapel too, and I tried Port-au-Prince but didn't like it much either. Those Wanderlust scents sound really tricky with us, eh.

Wandering off topic...have you tried Mme Moriarty? If you like Snake Oil, I recommend giving it a try...it does veer towards feminine, but I really love it. I think it's wearable for a guy.

No I haven't tried it, and I haven't tried Snake Oil either despite having read how much most of people enjoy that one. I've been leaning towards more masculine scents lately. :)
