Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Mick, and I'm on the BPAL forum as BaronLaCroix. I must say I'm pleased I found this community, and wish I'd found it sooner. I've been into BPAL for a bit more than a year now, and it's good to find other gentlemen whom appreciate the lab works as well.
Also, there hadn't been an update in some time, so I thought I'd change that.

My Imps just came in the mail, woo!!! Everything smells wonderful and I can't wait to try it! I was a little confused, though. I ordered Mad Sweeney and got Wolfsbane and 51 instead. Not that I'm complaining, mind you, but I can't find anything about 51 on the site. Can anyone fill me in?

Edit - I'm, apparently, a moron. Mad Sweeney, along with the rest of The Carousel, isn't available in Imp form. Looks like I may need to get a bottle!

Hey everyone! I'm relatively new to BPAL (a female friend got me into it after constantly smelling like chocolate) and so far haven't had too much experience with different scents. Black Ice is one of my favorites and smells pretty good on me but, unfortunately, I can't get a reliable supply of it because it's an LE! Death on a Pale Horse is another I enjoy, even though it is kinda...flowery.

I just ordered imps of Mad Sweeney, Vice, Envy, The Bow and Crown of Conquest, Absinthe, and Oberon. Anyone have any thoughts/experiences with them?

So, I want to enable the boy, and I'm going through my imp box selecting the ones that I think he could like.
However he is used to spray cologne, so I'm thinking imps may be a bit awkward?
So, what is your preferred method of applying BPAL?
Have you enabled any male friends? Do you have suggestions?

I'm planning my next order, and among the imps I would like to order (mostly masculine scents) I want to try more of the Wanderlust oils. I have a thing for exotic/oriental scents, but I've had a pretty bad experience with Kathmandu and found Morocco nice though too light for my skin. Tried Machu Picchu as well but it was too candy-like for me. Now I'm thinking of ordering imps of Cairo, Athens, and maybe Silk Road, but even after reading the reviews on the forums I still have no real idea on what they're like gender-wise (I know, "most bpal oils are gender neutral!"), and regardless of gender I was interested in reading you guys about 'em. Anyone tried them out before? Any other suggestion from the Wanderlust oils, beside Whitechapel and Port-au-Prince?

Quincey Morris is amazing....before I was take-it-or-leave-it about leather, but Quincey sold me on it. Beautiful, clean, light but rugged, sweet brown leather scent. Throw lasts for hours. Get it while you can!

Wow, seems like the lab is putting out some *great* gender neutral and even masculine scents lately! In my pending orders (there are a lot right now!) the more masc-o-centric blends are Schwarzer Mond and Devil's Night, imps from a decant circle for Theodesius the Legerdemain and Antonino Carny Talker, and finally a 5ml of my favorite, Djinn. Can't wait to try them out. Also have bottles of F5 and Creepy on the way.

Having said that, I'm finding the scents I really like right now are Sugar Skull '05, and one of my Chaos Theory III which is sugary, very buttery, warm, sweet, with a touch of citrus and mint. Who knew I'd end up liking foody scents so much!

Looking forward to trying Dr. Seward, Count Dracula, All Souls, maybe Samhain, and most of the Picnic in Arkham series. I'm seriously considering ordering Mme Moriarty Misfortune Teller, because I've been wanting a bottle of Snake Oil anyway, and this sounds like a nice variation on Snake Oil.

I, personally, am partial to scents that most people would categorize as masculine, or at the very least gender-neutral. I like earthy scents, resins, and loud, dark ambers. When I do an update, I never think in terms of whether a scent is masculine or feminine; rather, I'm just going with the theme or feel of the basis of the scent. Sometimes when I see some of the posts that our male and transgender customers make on public forums, I wonder if we're, in some way, not fulfilling their needs scent-wise.

Basically, Do you menfolk have any suggestions of what you'd like to see more of? Input is always welcome at the shop. =)

You thought I was dead? Well, I'm not! I am, however, on vacations, and I've been too busy to post here (I'll be more active in August, at last).

I'm the kind of person who enjoys "gender-fucking" sometimes, throwing confusion at people as whether I appear as masculine or more feminine, and playing around with gender. I find interesting to ponder over what people perceive as masculine or feminine, and how much opinions can vary - just looking at scents reviews on the BPAL Madness forums gives an idea of how much some perfumes come accross as masculine to some while gender-neutral to others, or really feminine.

Not everybody is into playing around with norms and presentations, however I was wondering how the guys here felt about wearing more androgynous or feminine scents, what are the type of scents (fragances; not necessarily naming specific oils) they, personally, consider as masculine, if they've tried different scents than the supposedly men ones and enjoyed them much on themselves, if they tried "men scents" that didn't come accross as men scents at all to them, what are they searching for, most of time, in a "manly scent"; in a more general way, how do the BPAL men feel about scents, gender-wise, especially coming to wearing them, and how did people around them reacted depending on what they were wearing.

Addendum: an extra question and women can share their thoughts about this too! It triggers my senses when people around me give mixed signals gender-wise, as I generally enjoy androgyny. It makes me curious and sometimes attract me like a moth to a flame. But what about you? How do you feel depending on what your partner, or friends wear (what if it's the sex or gender you're attracted to, and what if it isn't)?

Seems like lots of the more gender neutral or 'masculine' scents contain vetiver. I don't hate vetiver...I'm just getting a little burnt out on it. I think I want a big bottle of Djinn, except that it's just a little heavy on the vetiver for me. I don't know I might still get it.

This is just an observation...I'm not really asking for more suggestions although they're always welcome. I'm done placing orders for a while at this point because I have so many pending orders out there, and it's going to take weeks just to try everything! All I'm saying is now, when I'm reading a description of a fragrance and I come across vetiver, I sort of roll my eyes and write it off. Maybe I'm doing myself a disservice! I better keep an open mind.
